Tiger census has begun in Laljhadi Mohana Reserve Area of Kanchanpur district in far west Nepal with the use of camera trapping methodology. The counting has started with the joint efforts of the District Forest Office (DFO) and Terai Landscape Program (TLP) since Sunday. The Laljhadi Mohana Reserve is a habitat for tiger, said Pashupati Nath Koirala, chief at the office. The census team comprises of 17 members from DFO and TLP. As many as 30 pairs of automatic cameras have been installed in different points. The Laljhadi Mohana Reserve Area is linked with Dudhuwa National Park of India. The census has started from Gwalabari Community Forest and Janahit Mahakali Community Forest. The reserve area covers 37,875 hectares of land and the tiger census will be centered in some 350 square kilometers of land in the reserve, DFO sources said.
