Product Description

A fuller introduction to the route, pace, terrain, and overall trip style.

Tibet lies in the North of Nepal, has been a mysterious land of lakes and rivers, mighty snow peaks, and beautiful and ancient monasteries - with its spiritual air, an unearthly mystical land of Buddhist culture and philosophy. Tibet emerged in the 7th century as a unified empire, but it soon divided into a variety of territories. The atmosphere is severely dry nine months of the year, and average annual snowfall is only 18 inches, due to the rain shadow effect. Western passes receive small amounts of fresh snow each year but remain traversable all year round. Low temperatures are prevalent throughout these western regions, where bleak desolation is unrelieved by any vegetation beyond the size of low bushes, and where wind sweeps unchecked across vast expanses of arid plain. The Indian monsoon exerts some influence on eastern Tibet. Northern Tibet is subject to high temperatures in the summer and intense cold in the winter. Our tour takes you to visit Dalai Lama's Potala and Norbulingka and visit Barkhor Market in Lhasa which covers popular monastery and stupas as well as markets.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is most essential for travelling to Tibet; which protect your financial securities and compensate your lost property as well as life security. Please make sure that you are bringing a copy of your travel insurance and report this to us during your pre-trip meeting with us at our head office in Kathmandu before the tour starts on following day morning. Travel insurance should cover any emergency evacuation, trip cancellation and medical expenses for your Tibet trip.

Climate and Weather
Climate in Tibet is totally different than climate in Nepal. As Tibet is a rain shadow part of the Himalayas, the Tibetan climate is not as harsh as many people imagine it to be. The best time to travel to Tibet is from March to the beginning of November, but among them, August and September are the most recommended. But  you only stay in Lhasa so you can go there any time of the year. Sun radiation is extremely strong in Tibet. The sunlight in Lhasa is so intense that the city is called Sunlight City. The thin air can neither block off nor retain heat so that the temperature extremes can be met in daytime and the same night respectively in Tibet.

Passport and Visa Requirements & permit
Before you traveling, check your passport and validity date. You most require a valid passport to visit Tibet. Passports most have at least 6 months validity after finish date of your trip. We most require your copy of your passport details either fax it or scan copy to our email during your booking of Tibet tour with us through which we would make your Tibet travel permit in advance.

For making your Chinese visa/Tibet visa; Chinese embassy require your original passport to obtain the Chinese visa which we do upon on your arrival in Kathmandu and even if you have already obtained Chinese visa from your homeland county this visa doesn't work travelling to Tibet from Nepal side so we have to get you a new Tibet/china visa and your previously existing visa will be cancelled. Recently, Chinese embassy in Kathmandu is providing visa on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so you should arrive at least two days in prior to Kathmandu before departing to Tibet tour.

Your Tibet traveling permit and your Chinese visa will be valid for approx of 2 weeks to 21 days and within that timeframe, you have to exit from this country. Please do write us if you traveling to mainland to china so you would required longer visa. Individual visa to Tibet is not possible if you not taking any tours; your Tibet/Chinese visa is a group visa along with the groups. Always keep your passport with you and check your original visa while entering to Tibet and leaving this beautiful country after your tours ends.

  4. We spend some days in Lhasa for sightseeing and acclimatization purpose. While we acclimatize with the high altitude, we also visit important landmarks in Lhasa.  Our tour begins with a visit to Sera Monastery. Equally adventurous and exciting tempo builds up while touring Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Jokhang Temple is another important sacred site which unravels more deep seated mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit to Barkhor Markets can be quite a change from other visits as we roam around the city.

  5. Lhasa life certainly offers glimpses into one of the most preserved ancient cultural heritages. Like the previous day, you experience invaluable insights during your visits to Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. This 17th century Potala Palace offers an awesome view of entire city and also has private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms and chapels. Ancient history has it that Drepung Monastery which was built in 14th century used to shelter around 10,000 monks but as now there has been quite a declination resulting in only few hundreds. Tibetans' respect and belief are immensely knotted with this monastery.

"Several months ago, a friend of mine came back from world-round-trip and said, “A.B.C trekking is what you cannot see in any other places but Nepal”, and excitingly showed me a lot of incredibly beautiful pictures from the mountain and the country, Nepal. The story he shared caught my heart and strongly made me want to visit this country. And now, I also strongly recommend this adventure into wild nature. This is the reason why I am here, coming back from 10days Annapurna base camp(A.B.C) to write a review for one of the best agency (Adventure Mountain Explore Treks & Expedition P. Ltd) in Kathmandu and for you. What I have found during this trip is that this trip is therapeutic, educational, and exciting. First of all, in the mountain area, there are no such things as mobile, familiar TV show, disturbing noise, and annoying friends. You are literally surrounded by nature and all you can trust is your guide and your heart. You also have much free time in the mountain, which makes you think a lot about your future. Second, trekking is educational. You may see a various people from around the world as well as local people. This, I believe, is the best way of getting to know each other, as you will see them again and again during the trail. Exchanging their personal story and back ground helps you grow your personality as well. Third, it is exciting. There is no question about it. When I saw the panorama view from A.B.C, I got so excited that I could not take my camera away (I am sure I took more than 100 pictures and video there). That was defiantly worth it. Now, I am going to share a bit about my trekking partner, my guide, Lok Bhatta. He is friendly guy. He is not only experienced guide, but he knows how he can entertain us during the whole trip. His caring and his humor take up my good memory of trip. Since Lok and I spent 11days together, it is no wonder we became a best friends. Also he persistently looks after me. When I wanted him to take pictures, he always s..."

"My mother and I arrived in Kathmandu with just 2 days to prepare for a trek around Annapurna Circuit. We feel very lucky to have met Mr. Tika Regmi and through Adventure Mountain Explore treks we were able to hire a porter-guide to facilitate exactly the kind of trek we wanted, a self-directed trek with Nepali assistance. Our porter-guide Sujan was a trusted and integral part of our little trekking party. He was very knowledgeable about the route, its hotels and side trips, and he even introduced us to local people and gave us interactions with local Nepalese that we could not have experienced on our own, like a tea in the home of a local family! We couldn’t be any more pleased with our trek. Shanna Simmons 1152 Crescent Avenue Klamath Falls, OR 97601 USA shannasimmons@hotmail.com"

"Thanks Tika We arrived in Kathmandu on November 4, 2011 with hopes to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek to Muktinah. We had no firm guide or porters arranged as yet but were lucky to stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Thamel where we met Tika Regmi at the Hotel Blue Horizon. Tika is the director of Adventure Mountain Explore which wa located across the street. With Tika's expert help, our trek was arranged with an extraordinary guide, Sittal "Hom" Simkhada and two equally adept porters, Santosh Uperkoti and Sanjeep. Sittal knew the trail very well having done it more than 25 times. He provided information and insights about each peak and landmark along the way. He guided us up and down with care and confidence, setting a good pace that worked for each of us, our ages being 69, 67, and 30 years old. Sittal also got us to our teahouse rooms promptly and made sure we got our meals on time. We never had to ask for service; it was always provided with a smile. We enjoyed the camaraderie or our guide and porters and spent time playing cards together and exchanging stories. Clearly Sittal loved what he was doing and was experienced with every aspect of being a guide. When our daughter became ill along the way in Manang, Sittal conferred with Tika and we took an extra day to make sure all was well before continuing. There was no pressure to move on before we felt ready. When we reached the summit at Thorang la Pass we all celebrated together. It was a group achievement as well as a personal one for each of us. We are pleased to recommend Tika Regni as trek organizer and Sittal Simkhada as guide with our highest esteem and respect.
