Special Notice: Due to the unpredictable weather in the Himalayas, domestic flights to and from Lukla may occasionally experience delays or rescheduling. Flights can be delayed by several hours or, in some cases, postponed by a day or more, even during the best trekking seasons. High-altitude weather conditions are inherently difficult to predict, so we strongly recommend allowing an extra day or two in Nepal after your trek to provide flexibility in your schedule. This precaution ensures that any unforeseen changes do not affect your overall travel plans. If all goes smoothly, the extra time can also be enjoyed for activities such as rafting, wildlife viewing, shopping, or simply relaxing after your adventure.

  1. Welcome to Nepal. This Budget Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, proceed through immigration and luggage collection section and meet one of the company representatives at the arrival area. This representative will transfer you to the hotel booked for you in Kathmandu and assist you with hotel check-in formalities.

After check-in formalities, take a short rest, freshen up and a company representative will meet you for a trip briefing. In the briefing session, you will also be introduced to your guide who will also check your trekking gears. You can spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

    Meals: Not included

Please note: Hotel check-in time in Nepal is 2:00 pm, therefore, early check-in charge will be applicable, if your flight is scheduled to arrive early in the morning and you prefer to check into the hotel before the regular hotel check-in time (subject to availability).

  2. Your transfer to Ramechhap from Kathmandu for Budget Everest Base Camp Trek is a shared jeep, which leaves Kathmandu at around 1:00am. Your guide will come to pick you from your hotel and transfer you to jeep station in Kathmandu. Thus, carrying packed breakfast, provided by the hotel in Kathmandu, you will drive to Ramechhap. The drive takes approximately 5 hours. In Ramechhap, your guide will take care of the airport check-in formalities, after which you will fly to Lukla. The flying time from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla is 12-15 minutes.

After your plane lands in Luka airport, one of the most dangerous airports in the world, you will meet the porters, who will assist you with your luggage and accompany you throughout the trek to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey. Lukla is the gateway to the Everest region and your walking journey starts here.  Your nightstop today is Phakding, located roughly 8 kilometers from Lukla. Leaving Lukla, you will begin your trek following a picturesque trail that winds through vibrant Sherpa villages, rhododendron forest and lush landscape. The journey today is mostly downhill. Roughly 4 hours after leaving Lukla, you will reach the beautiful settlement of Phakding, a small yet a very picturesque village located along the bank of the Dudh Koshi River on Everest Base Camp trekking trail that serves as the first overnight stop for trekkers heading toward Namche Bazaar and ultimately Everest Base Camp.

Surrounded by lush pine forest and terraced fields, this place offers a peaceful atmosphere with stunning views of snow-capped peaks. This village also features a number of cozy teahouses and lodges, providing warm hospitality and a comfortable place to rest after your first day’s trek from Lukla. This place also features Buddhist monasteries, colorful prayer wheels and suspension bridges draped in prayer flags, which add a rich cultural charm to the natural beauty of the area.

On reaching Phakding, you will check into the lodge booked for you, have your lunch and around late afternoon, visit one of the nearby monasteries located a bit above the village of Phakding for an acclimatization hike. After spending some time exploring the monastery and the nearby areas, you will get back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight in a lodge in Phakding.

    Meals: Breakfast

  3. The second night stop of the Budget EBC Trek is Namche Bazaar - a vibrant Sherpa settlement nestled on the hillside with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. It is also the administrative and cultural center of the Khumbu region.

Following breakfast in Phakding, you will continue to trek towards Namche Bazaar, ascending gradually through scenic trails and local villages and crossing several suspension bridges built over the Dudh Koshi River that connect Everest Base Camp trekking trail. From Phakding, it’s an easy uphill to Monjo, a gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. A quick national park entry formality here will give you some time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, while the guide takes care of the formalities. Continuing your journey to Namche, you will now hike down to Jorsalle after crossing a few suspension bridges for lunch. The trail further up to Larja Dobhan climbs gradually and is fairly easy. After Larja Dobhan, you will cross the infamous Hillary bridge and prepare to climb the steepest section of the day’s trail, which will finally lead you to Namche Bazaar. On the way a little higher than the bridge, you will reach a viewpoint, from where you will see the first view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse and Kusum Khangru. After enjoying the view, you will continue your journey to Namche.

About 7-8 hours (depending on your pace) after leaving Phakding, you will reach Namche, where you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. You can spend the evening at leisure- either exploring the town of Namche or simply resting at the lodge. Overnight at a lodge in Namche.

    Meals: Not included.

  4. One acclimatization day, after every 1000 meter ascent, is strongly recommended to allow your body to adjust gradually to the decreasing oxygen levels and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Therefore, today you will spend the day acclimatizing in Namche, exploring nearby viewpoints and local attractions.

For the acclimatization hike, you will either go to Hotel Everest View Hotel in Syangboche or to the Khumjung and Khunde Village.

If you are interested in mountain viewpoints, you can choose to hike to Hotel Everest View; however, if your interest leans more towards culture and lifestyle of people, choose the hike to Khunde and Khumjung. Visiting these villages also offer you the opportunity to visit Hillary School (established by Sir Edmund Hillary as a part of his efforts to support the Sherpa community after his Everest Expedition) in Khunde and the Khumjung Monastery Museum in Khumjung that houses a purported Yeti scalp, a curious relic that has fascinated visitors and researchers for years. The monastery itself offers a glimpse into Sherpa culture and Buddhist traditions, set against the stunning backdrop of the Everest region. Your guide will take you on acclimatization hikes according to your choice.

After the hike, you will hike down to your lodge in Namche for dinner and overnight stay.

    Meals: Not included

  5. Your fourth nightstop on this budget Everest trek is Deboche, a tranquil village nestled among pine and rhododendron forests, where you can unwind while enjoying stunning views of Ama Dablam and the surrounding peaks.

Starting after breakfast and leaving Namche, you will continue your Everest Base Camp trek on the trail contours along a mountainside high above the Dudh Koshi River, offering sweeping vistas of Ama Dablam, Thamserku as well as Everest on clear days. Along the way, you will pass through pine and rhododendron forests, encounter mani walls, chorten and share the trail with yaks and fellow trekkers. The route also passes several tea houses and viewpoints, making it a pleasant stretch for rest and photography. Soon you will reach Sanasa, a small settlement and trail junction, which marks the point where routes diverge toward Tengboche, Gokyou and Khumjung. Following the Tengboche trail, as you continue to descend through pine and rhododendron forest that offers occasional glimpses of Ama Dablam and Thamserku, the sound of Dudh Koshi River grows stronger, guiding you toward Phunki Tenga, a charming riverside settlement that serves as a pleasant break and a perfect place to buy your lunch, before the steep ascent that follows.

The hike from Phunki Tenga to Tengboche is a steady uphill climb through a beautiful pine, fir and rhododendron forest. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi, the trail ascends continuously, rewarding you with increasingly expansive views of Ama Dablam, Everest and Kangtera as you gain elevation. The ascent typically takes about two hours, depending on pace. Upon reading Tengboche, you’ll be greeted by the magnificent Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual center of the Khumbu region, set against the stunning backdrop of Himalayan peaks. You will spend some time exploring the monastery and enjoying the surrounding views, before descending to Deboche for dinner and overnight stay. The trek to Deboche is a short and pleasant descent through lush rhododendron and pine forests. The trail offers tranquil surroundings and occasional mountain views, making it a relaxing walk after the climb to Tengboche. In about 30 minutes, you’ll arrive at Deboche, a peaceful village nestled among trees, offering a quiet retreat with stunning views of Ama Dablam. Upon reaching Deboche, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Meals: Not included.

  6. Your fifth nightstop on this Everest budget trek is Dingboche, a picturesque village nestled in the Imja Valley, offering stunning views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Island Peak.

Like any other day, this day also begins after breakfast in Deboche. Leaving Deboche, you will first hike to Pangboche, the highest permanent village in the area that is famous for its ancient monastery and panoramic Himalayan views. The trek to Pangboche is a moderate uphill hike through pine and rhododendron forests, offering breathtaking views of Ama Dablam along the way. The trail passes through small Sherpa settlements and mani walls, giving a glimpse of local culture. From Pangboche, the trek to Dingboche is a gradual climb above treeling through scenic alpine meadows and moraine landscape, with more spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Island Peak. Along the way, you will pass a small Sherpa settlement where you can buy your lunch, before continuing to Dingboche enjoying the serene Himalayan surroundings.

Around 5-6 hours after leaving Deboche, you will reach Dingboche, where you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. You can spend the evening at leisure, either resting or exploring the village. Overnight in a hotel in Dingboche.

    Meals: Not included.

  7. Once you’ve reached Dingboche, you are over 4000 meters and have already gained a minimum of 1000 meters in elevation, after your first acclimatization. Hence, to reduce the effects of altitude, this place on the Everest Base Camp trekking trail makes it an ideal place to rest and acclimatize before continuing your ascent toward higher altitude.

Therefore, on this day, you will go on an acclimatization hike. For acclimatization hike, you will be given two options- Nangkartshang Peak or Chhukung. Nangkartshang Peak is a viewpoint located above the village of Digboche and offers spectacular panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Island Peak. It’s a half day hike and you will be back to Dingboche before lunch time, which allows you enough time to explore the village or simply rest in the afternoon. However, if you choose the second option, that is, hike to Chhukung, it’s a full-day hike. The trail passes through alpine meadows and moraine landscape, offering spectacular views of Island Peak, Lhotse and Ama Dablam and preparing you for all - upcoming trail, air and surrounding. You will only be back to Dingboche in the evening.

Thus, based on your choice, your guide will take you on an acclimatization hike. After the hike, you will get back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Meals: Not included.

  8. Your seventh nightstop on this Everest Budget Trek is Lobuche, a small mountain settlement perched over 4900 meters, offering stunning views of Nuptse, Pumori and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

The previous day’s acclimatization hike will prepare your body to gain more altitude and adjust to air with comparatively less oxygen than in Dingboche.

The trek to Lobuche from Dingboche starts after breakfast in Dingboche. Leaving the incredibly beautiful village of Dingboche, you will head towards Thukla. The trek to Thukla is a moderate to challenging ascent through rocky, high-altitude terrain. The trail offers panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Nuptse.Thukla serves as a small resting point with a few teahouses, making it ideal for a short break on the way to Lobuche. You can take a quick tea break at Thukla and get prepared for the most challenging section of this day’s trek -Thukla to Thukla Pass. Although this section involves barely a 210-meter climb, it is steep with the trail winding through rocky terrain and scattered moraine fields. As you reach the top, you will be greeted by a spectacular panorama including Nuptse, Lhotse as well as Ama Dablam. As you set your foot towards the top, you will be greeted with a number of Memorial Chortens, a solemn landmark built to honor trekkers and climbers who lost their lives in the Everest region. Standing amidst the rugged high-altitude terrain, it is adorned with prayer flags and offers a place for reflection. The combination of chortens and the dramatic viewpoint of surrounding peaks make it both a spiritual and scenic stop on the trek. After spending some time here, you will head to Lobuche, which is an easy ascent on a gradually ascending trail.

Approximately five hours after leaving Dingboche you will reach Lobuche, where you will settle into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Meals: Not included.

  9. Today you will finally reach Everest Base Camp, standing in awe at the foot of the world’s highest peak, surrounded by towering glaciers and majestic Himalayan giants- a truly unforgettable moment of your trek.

Starting the day after breakfast, you will first hike to Gorakshep, a small settlement serving as the last stop before Everest Base Camp, offering basic teahouse accommodation and spectacular mountain vistas.

The trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep is a moderate high-altitude hike, gradually ascending along rocky and moraine-strewn terrain. The trail offers breathtaking views of Khumbu Glacier, Pumori, and Lingtren, with the vast expanse of the glacier giving a true sense of the Everest region’s grandeur. In Gorakshep, you will check into your lodge, leave your luggage, have an early lunch and start your journey to EBC, which takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours.

The trek from Gorakshep to EBC and back is one of the most rewarding sections of the entire journey. The trail follows the Khumbu Glacier, weaving through rocky moraine terrain with incredible views of Khumbu Icefall, Nuptse and Pumori. Upon reaching EBC, you’ll stand at the base of the highest mountain, feeling accomplished. After spending some time soaking in the views and capturing photos, you’ll return to Gorakshep for dinner and overnight stay. From Gorakshep, it takes around 4-5 hours to visit EBC and get back to Gorakshep. Overnight in a lodge in Gorakshep.

    Meals: Not included.

  10. Kala Patthar is believed to be the best Everest viewpoint in the entire Everest region. The view of Mt. Everest, especially when the first rays of the sun hit the mountain, is incredible. Therefore, you will hike to Kala Patthar for a sunrise view. The hike to the top takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Therefore, early in the morning, around 1.5 to 2 hours before sunrise, you will start your hike to Kala Patthar. The steep but rewarding climb offers unparalleled panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumori and Ama Dablam glowing in the golden sunrise. Sanding at the summit of Kala Patthar is often taken as the major highlight of the entire trek as it offers ample breathtaking photo opportunities before descending back to Gorakshep. Hence, you will spend some time here and return to Gorakshep for breakfast.

Your return journey begins after a hearty breakfast in Ghorakshep. Descending along the Khumbu Glacier you will retrace the trail through Lobuche and Thukla Pass to Thukla. The route offers stunning views of Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Pumori, with altitude gradually decreasing as you return to green valleys. From Thukla, you will hike down to Pheriche, a tranquil village known for its Himalayan Rescue Association aid post and a perfect place to rest and recover after the demanding days at high altitudes. The trek from Thukla to Pheriche is a pleasant downhill walk that gradually descends from rugged high-altitude terrain into the broader valley of Pheriche. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of Ama Dablam and Thamserku, passing through alpine meadows and stone-walled fields.

Upon reaching Pheriche, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Moreover, if you are not too tired, you can also hike down to Pangboche for an overnight stay.

    Meals: Not included.

  11. Your next nightstop on your return journey on this budget Everest Base Camp Trek is Namche, which begins after breakfast in Pheriche. It’s a long but very rewarding day, as you gradually descend from the high alpine landscape into the greener valleys. The trail passes through Orsho, Somare, Pangboche, Deboche and Tengboche, offering final glimpses of the breathtaking Ama Dablam and Everest before entering the forest  of rhododendron and pine. Soon you will enter the forest of rhododendron and pine. After crossing several suspension bridges and passing small Sherpa villages, you will finally arrive at Namche Bazaar, where the warmer air and lively atmosphere marks your return to lower altitude.

Upon arrival in Namche, you will check into the lodge and rest and unwind. Spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in a lodge in Namche.

    Meals: Not included

  12. The trek from Namche to Lukla marks the final day on the trail. Thus, after breakfast, retracing the trail along the Dudh Koshi River you will hike down to Lukla. The route includes several suspension bridges, mani walls, and Sherpa villages, offering one last opportunity to enjoy the scenery and culture of the Khumbu region. Though mostly downhill, there are a few short ascents before reaching Lukla, where you will celebrate the successful completion of your Everest Base Camp trekking adventure, fulfilling the dream of a lifetime. About six hours after leaving Namche you will reach Lukla.

Upon arrival in Lukla, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. You can spend the evening either resting and relaxing at the lodge or celebrating with your guide and porters. Overnight in a lodge in Lukla.

"Several months ago, a friend of mine came back from world-round-trip and said, “A.B.C trekking is what you cannot see in any other places but Nepal”, and excitingly showed me a lot of incredibly beautiful pictures from the mountain and the country, Nepal. The story he shared caught my heart and strongly made me want to visit this country. And now, I also strongly recommend this adventure into wild nature. This is the reason why I am here, coming back from 10days Annapurna base camp(A.B.C) to write a review for one of the best agency (Adventure Mountain Explore Treks & Expedition P. Ltd) in Kathmandu and for you. What I have found during this trip is that this trip is therapeutic, educational, and exciting. First of all, in the mountain area, there are no such things as mobile, familiar TV show, disturbing noise, and annoying friends. You are literally surrounded by nature and all you can trust is your guide and your heart. You also have much free time in the mountain, which makes you think a lot about your future. Second, trekking is educational. You may see a various people from around the world as well as local people. This, I believe, is the best way of getting to know each other, as you will see them again and again during the trail. Exchanging their personal story and back ground helps you grow your personality as well. Third, it is exciting. There is no question about it. When I saw the panorama view from A.B.C, I got so excited that I could not take my camera away (I am sure I took more than 100 pictures and video there). That was defiantly worth it. Now, I am going to share a bit about my trekking partner, my guide, Lok Bhatta. He is friendly guy. He is not only experienced guide, but he knows how he can entertain us during the whole trip. His caring and his humor take up my good memory of trip. Since Lok and I spent 11days together, it is no wonder we became a best friends. Also he persistently looks after me. When I wanted him to take pictures, he always s..."

"My mother and I arrived in Kathmandu with just 2 days to prepare for a trek around Annapurna Circuit. We feel very lucky to have met Mr. Tika Regmi and through Adventure Mountain Explore treks we were able to hire a porter-guide to facilitate exactly the kind of trek we wanted, a self-directed trek with Nepali assistance. Our porter-guide Sujan was a trusted and integral part of our little trekking party. He was very knowledgeable about the route, its hotels and side trips, and he even introduced us to local people and gave us interactions with local Nepalese that we could not have experienced on our own, like a tea in the home of a local family! We couldn’t be any more pleased with our trek. Shanna Simmons 1152 Crescent Avenue Klamath Falls, OR 97601 USA shannasimmons@hotmail.com"

"Thanks Tika We arrived in Kathmandu on November 4, 2011 with hopes to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek to Muktinah. We had no firm guide or porters arranged as yet but were lucky to stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Thamel where we met Tika Regmi at the Hotel Blue Horizon. Tika is the director of Adventure Mountain Explore which wa located across the street. With Tika's expert help, our trek was arranged with an extraordinary guide, Sittal "Hom" Simkhada and two equally adept porters, Santosh Uperkoti and Sanjeep. Sittal knew the trail very well having done it more than 25 times. He provided information and insights about each peak and landmark along the way. He guided us up and down with care and confidence, setting a good pace that worked for each of us, our ages being 69, 67, and 30 years old. Sittal also got us to our teahouse rooms promptly and made sure we got our meals on time. We never had to ask for service; it was always provided with a smile. We enjoyed the camaraderie or our guide and porters and spent time playing cards together and exchanging stories. Clearly Sittal loved what he was doing and was experienced with every aspect of being a guide. When our daughter became ill along the way in Manang, Sittal conferred with Tika and we took an extra day to make sure all was well before continuing. There was no pressure to move on before we felt ready. When we reached the summit at Thorang la Pass we all celebrated together. It was a group achievement as well as a personal one for each of us. We are pleased to recommend Tika Regni as trek organizer and Sittal Simkhada as guide with our highest esteem and respect.
