The Airport Passengers Transport Service Management Limited has brought into service 200 luxurious ‘prepaid’ taxi from today. Passengers can use the taxi service to different places of the Capital, surrounding district and other districts too from international and domestic terminals of the Tribhuwan International Airport. The price for using the prepaid taxi service has been fixed at Rs. 75 per kilometer. Two hundred taxis of Ford and Maruti companies have been used for the service in the first phase. Six hundred million rupees have been invested to bring the prepaid taxi into operation. The company plans to bring an additional 100 such taxis for the service in the second phase. The new taxis now replace the taxis with green number plate that were providing service from the airport. Inaugurating the service at airport premises today, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Ratish Chandralal Suman expressed the confidence that the service would be successful in giving firsthand impression to the tourists landing at the TIA. source: Himalayan Times
