Two buildings in Bausher and Ruwi have been shortlisted for the Embassy of Nepal, which will open by the end of August. A three-member government delegation from Nepal will visit Oman in the first week of August to inspect the buildings. The team will select one building keeping the convenience of Nepali expatriates in mind. The visiting delegation will be led by Jhabindra Aryal, who has been appointed as chargΓ© dβaffaires. Aryal has been part of Nepalβs diplomatic missions in Brussels, Riyadh and London. D B Chettri, president of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said, βWe are extremely happy that the embassy will finally open next month. It will further boost Oman-Nepal ties. We hope to strengthen business and cultural ties between the two countries. βThe embassy will also play a key role in promoting Nepal as a tourism destination.β Chettri added that NRNA had pushed for an embassy in Oman for many years. βThe new embassy will benefit more than 40,000 Nepalese expatriates in the sultanate. Due to the absence of an embassy, it is NRNA which has taken the lead in solving worker-related issues.β Nepal announced the opening of an embassy in Oman in February this year, as well as in other locations in GCC, as the country looks to expand its existing network of diplomatic missions around the world. In addition to Oman, an embassy will be established in Bahrain, and another consulate is to open in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
