The third edition of Tour de Lumbini, a cycle rally with peace message was kicked off from the stupa of Bouddhanath in the Capital on Sunday.Around 100 participants, among them cyclists, volunteers, among others are taking part in the annual event organised to celebrate peace in the country and in the world.The cyclists are said to reach Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha on Buddha Purnima, which falls on Wednesday (May 14).A group of cyclists from Dharan are also joining the rally in Narayanghat from where they will head west along the East West Highway. After stops in Kurintar and Arunkhola, the cyclists will enter Lumbini, organizer said in a statement. Chief Secretary Lila Mani Paudel had seen off the cyclists from the Capital, where the rally went around Bouddhanathstupa, Pashupati and Swayambhu before hitting the highway. βThe cyclists are pedaling despite the scorching heat β and they are being welcomed by local communities along the way, showering warm love, hospitality and reception,β the statement read.
