Ciwec Clinic and Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) are conducting lecture sessions on High Altitude Sickness for the benefit of trekkers, trekking guides and various stakeholders at Nepal Tourism Board. The second week of lecture went by with significant participation of trekkers and guides. Dr. Prativa Pandey, the Medical Director of Ciwec Clinic. She says, βAltitude sickness is a completely preventable and curable problem and yet people die of it due to inadequate knowledge. The objective of the project is to facilitate tourists with ample of health related knowledge while trekking in Nepal. The lectures cover topics like different types of altitude sickness, its causes and symptoms, how to prevent those initial symptoms and its remedies. The two major things that trekkers need to keep in mind are preparing a sensible itinerary and carrying effective medicines with them while trekking to high altitude region. Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Chief Executive Officer of Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) gave a PowerPoint presentation on the same topics on the second week of the lectures. All tourists, stakeholders and interested parties are requested to attend the lectures that will be conducted from 2pm-3pm every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the peak trekking season at Nepal Tourism Board Lecture Hall. source: NTB
