A fuller introduction to the route, pace, terrain, and overall trip style.

Everest Base Camp: Hike In, Helicopter Out!

Short Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most exhilarating 12-day trekking experiences in Nepal. This adventure allows you to experience the raw beauty of the Himalayas on foot and return in style and comfort with a breathtaking helicopter flight from Gorakshep after reaching base camp, offering a once-in-a-lifetime adventure at the foot of the world’s highest mountain.

This 12 days Everest Base Camp trekking trip starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. After a restful night in Kathmandu to recover from jet lag, an overland journey, the next day, will take you to Ramechhap for a short thrilling flight to Lukla the following day. The trekking journey begins immediately after reaching Lukla. You will trek through the Charming Sherpa Villages, ancient monasteries and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Along the way, you will make Phakding, Namche, Deboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep your lodging stops. In addition to comfortable lodging and hearty meals, these overnight stays offer unforgettable mountain and surrounding views and a deep connection to the Sherpa heritage and way of life. Two acclimatization days (one in Namche and the other in Dingboche) are also built into this Everest Base Camp trek itinerary to ease acclimatization and enhance your enjoyment of the area. On the 10th day of your journey, you will stand at the foot of the world’s highest peak- Everest Base Camp. And the adventure doesn’t end there- at sunrise the next morning, you’ll hike to Kala Patthar for the most breathtaking view of Everest. After witnessing the towering face of Everest up close, you’ll board a shared helicopter for a spectacular aerial journey back to Kathmandu, enjoying a bird's-eye view of the route you’ve just completed, instead of retracing your steps on foot. The trip ends with your departure from Kathmandu.

Although this classic trek blends with the luxury of a quick return, it still allows trekkers to enjoy all attractions: unparalleled mountain views (Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Taboche, Cholatse, Island Peak, Makalu, Baruntse, Peak 38, Changtse etc.), villages steeped in culture and tradition (Lukla, Namche, Phakding, Deboche, Pangboche etc.), historic and revered spiritual sanctuaries (Tengboche Monastery, Pangboche Monastery and monasteries in around Phakding) and the bustling trade hub (Namche), making it an ideal trek for those seeking the Everest experience with added comfort and efficiency.

Even though this Everest Base Camp Trek package is designed specially for the time-bound trekkers, groups with children and elderly have equally enjoyed and benefited by choosing this package.

Plan this trek around two prime seasons: Spring (March to May) and Fall (Late September to November) to enjoy best weather and trail conditions and temperature and visibility. If you prefer all these conditions but less crowded trails, plan this trip around early March or late November to Early December. The perfect time, even within these seasons, is late-April to early May and late October to early November.

Note: Though conditions are generally favorable during this season, it’s wise to build in a few extra days to account for potential weather-related disruptions to flights or helicopter service.

If you want to complete the entire journey on foot, we offer packages like 12 days Everest Base Camp Trek and 15 days Everest Base Camp Trek.

Nevertheless, if this package does not align with your specific requirements, our team can tailor your trekking package to ensure it aligns perfectly with your preferences and expectations.

Useful Information

Since the itinerary covers 12 days which is regarded as one of the shortest trek to Everest Base Camp, the trek requires excellent stamina and endurance. Thus, we suggest you to train before coming for the trek. Physical training is important but so is mental training. The culture, altitude and change in lifestyle can leave an impact for long term. Thus, prepping both mentally and physically can be of a great help once we are in the mountains.

Likewise, High Altitude Sickness (Acute Mountain Sickness) is another common difficulty that arises during the trek. Altitude sickness is a physical condition that occurs in higher elevation due to change in air pressure causing nausea, diarrhea, fever and loss of appetite or even fatal death. Everest Base Camp lies at an altitude of 5364m, trekkers might still anticipate problems of altitude sickness. In such cases, your team leader will make the arrangements for you to hike down, instead of continuing further. We request you to be flexible and follow the instruction of the team leader. It is also good to have physical and mental preparation before opting for the trek. No major technical skill is required to plan Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. However, prior hiking or camping experiences will definitely be considered as a plus point. Also, a few weeks of regular exercises like jogging, running, swimming, cycling, uphill climbing is highly recommended to build the required stamina, before the trip.

When should I plan this trek?

Though Nepal can be visited any time of the year, the best season to plan the trek is Spring and Autumn.

Spring – Mid- March , April, and May , are the perfect months. These months support us with warm weather, clear skies, good temperature and the best visibility.

Autumn – Mid-September, October, November, are the perfect months to plan the Everest Base Camp Trek. These months are also favorable in terms of better visibility, warm weather, clear blue skies and excellent trail.

Winter – December, January and February, are not good months to plan the Everest Trek since the area gets dense with snow and the trails also close due to extreme conditions.

Summer -  Mid June, July and August are not the best months to trek as the monsoon rain affects the trail and the visibility; however, on request the trek can be arranged at this time of the year.

We also request you to set aside USD 200 (or an amount equivalent to USD 200) as an emergency fund. This fund is kept as security money during the trek and will be utilized in the case of any changes in the itinerary caused by unforeseen natural disaster.

Tipping during the trek

You can tip your service providers to show your gratitude and satisfaction. You can tip your service providers like guides, porters, drivers and waiters. The tip amount entirely depends upon your wish. Health, Medication and Medical Facilities during the trek

The treks demand excellent stamina, and the best health conditions as most of the days require 6-8 hours walk. Therefore, we suggest you get a physical examination at east 4-6 weeks prior to the trek and seek advice, medication as well as the permission from your doctor, before the trip. We also recommend you take expert guidance from your local General Practitioner with expertise in altitude illness and travel medicines.  Please get screened for hypertension, diabetes mellitus, anemia, ulcer disease, cardiovascular disease and lung related problems. Any person with a strong family history or over the age of 40 should make cardiovascular risk assessment. Getting a good dental checkup and identifying medicines that you are allergic to are a must. Make sure you are immunized and vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, varicella, Hemophilus influenza type b infection, Hepatitis A and B Typhoid, rabies, yellow fever, cholera, meningococcal disease and encephalitis. In the absence of GP, please seek advice from travel clinics.

Also add blister kit, sunscreen, bandages, insect repellent containing DEET, topical antibiotic cream, iodine tablets and /or water filter, Diamox or Acetazolamide, Acetaminophen or Tylenol for analgesia, Ibuprofen or Advil for analgesia and as an anti-inflammatory agent, Immodium or Lomotil for diarrhea, Afrin-a nasal decongestant, Pepcid or Zantac for heartburn, an antibiotic, especially a Quinolone such as Ciprofloxacin or Leavaquin, pain medicine such as Tylenol with codeine or Hydrocodone and if you are prone to exercise-induced Asthma or Asthma associated with bronchitis or upper respiratory infections, bring Asthma inhaler. Kindly inform us regarding your present health condition, medical situation, preceding illness and the medicines you are taking, so that we can get prepared for emergencies.

Most of the general hospitals and private clinics are available in Kathmandu, therefore, finding a good medical facility isn’t difficult in the capital. However, the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) operates aid posts in Pheriche (Khumbu) managed by expatriate physicians, during the peak trekking seasons. With an aim to reduce the deaths among trekkers, it provides free advices to trekkers on altitude sickness, equipments and the condition of the trekking routes.

Safety and Security during the trek

Your safety is our priority. Therefore, the team leader is given a full authority to amend or cancel the itinerary in the case of unforeseen circumstances, like sudden weather changes, natural disaster, and bad health of a group member or any kind of violent protest or demonstrations.

For the security of your belongings, like passport, air tickets, traveler checks, cash, and other valuable items, it is highly recommended that you bring a neck wallet or a money belt to carry these items. Try not to bring any valuable belongings like jewelry. Even if you bring, we recommend you to safely store in the deposit boxes in the hotel in Kathmandu. Also bring a lock to secure your luggage.
Remember! Neither the team leader nor the company will be responsible for the security involved during any extra activities not included in the itinerary.

Travel Insurance

Getting travel insurance is a must, if you are looking for the Everest Base Camp Trek. Your travel insurance should cover all the additional expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with air ambulance, helicopter rescue or other treatment cost). Your insurance policy should also cover all extra activities that you are planning to during your stay in Nepal. Moreover, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (hospital charges, medicine charges and the doctor’s fee) as well as the repatriation cost. This trek takes you over the 4000m, therefore, make sure that you get an insurance policy that covers the treks that go over 4000m.

  1. Welcome to Nepal!

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport  in Kathmandu, a representative from our team will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel pre-booked for you in Kathmandu. After check-in, you will have time to rest and recover from your journey or take a short stroll around the bustling Thamel area - a vibrant hub for trekkers that features gear and souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants.

Around the afternoon, you will meet a company representative along with your trekking guide for a briefing about the trek, covering logistics, route details, safety protocols and a final gear check to ensure you’re fully prepared for the adventure ahead. After the meeting, you can spend the remaining day at leisure. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

If you arrive early in the day, we can also help arrange a short sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites on request.

However, if your flight is scheduled to arrive late the meeting will be held the following day, before leaving Kathmandu for Ramechhap.

  2. Today marks the official start of your trekking adventure. Breakfast at the hotel in Kathmandu, you’ll meet your guide for a final trek briefing and gear check. This is your chance to ask any last-minute questions and ensure you have everything you need before heading into the Himalayas.

Once preparations are completed, you’ll start your journey to Manthali, Ramechhap in a private car/jeep. Manthali is a municipality and the headquarters of Ramechhap district. During peak season (March to May and October to November), the airport in Manthali serves as the alternate departure point for flights to Lukla. Leaving Kathmandu, winding through scenic hills, rivers and traditional Nepali villages, you will reach Ramechhap after about a 5-hour drive. You will stop for lunch and short toilet breaks as per your preference somewhere along the highway.

After arriving in Ramechhap, you will check into the pre-booked lodge/resort for dinner and accommodation. You can now rest for the night in preparation for your early morning flight to Lukla the next day. Overnight in a lodge/resort in Raemchhap.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  3. The airport reporting time in Manthali Airport is one hour prior to flight departure. Therefore, as per your airport reporting time, your guide will transfer you to the airport and take care of the airport formalities. If your flight time is early in the morning, you will have your breakfast in Lukla, however, if it is around mid to late morning, you will have breakfast at your lodge/resort in Ramecchhap.

Now, as per your flight time (might get pushed back due to weather, previous day’s flight cancellation and unforeseen situations), you will board your flight and fly to Lukla. The flight time is about 12-15 minutes and you will experience your flight landing at one of the most challenging airports in the world, the Tenzing-Hillary Airport.

In Lukla, you’ll meet your support team (porters), who will assist in carrying your luggage throughout the trek. They will prepare to carry your luggage and once ready, your Everest Base Camp adventure officially  begins with a gentle hike to Phakding, which is your first overnight stop in the Khumbu region. This initial stretch covers around 8 kilometers and typically takes around 4 hours, depending on pace and rest stops.

Descending gradually from Lukla, the trail takes you through the forest of pine and picturesque Sherpa villages such as Chheplung and Thado Koshi gaon, offering a soft introduction to Himalayan trekking. You will notice that the path is well-maintained, with moderate ascents and descents, very ideal for warming up your leg muscles for the days ahead.

Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by colorful prayer flags, mani stones, and spinning prayer wheels, setting a peaceful and spiritual tone for the trek. The highlight of this section is your first glimpse of Kusum Kanguru, a striking, snow-capped peak that rises sharply above the valley.

After reaching the serene riverside settlement of Phakding, you’ll settle into your lodge and take some time to rest. Around late afternoon, your guide will lead a short acclimatization hike to a nearby monastery, offering not just better altitude adjustment, but also a deeper insight into local Buddhist culture. You will then get back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Note: During the off-season months (June to September and December to February), Lukla flights operate directly from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. Therefore, you can also choose to fly to Lukla on day 2 or spend it in Kathmandu exploring the UNESCO highlights in the valley.

  4. Having completed the easy first section of the Everest Base Camp Trek the previous day, today you will embark on the first truly challenging day on the trail. With steady ascent and noticeable changes in altitude, this section tests your endurance while rewarding you with incredible scenery and your first real taste of high mountain trekking.

After breakfast, leaving the peaceful riverside village of Phakding and following the trail north along the Dhudh Koshi River, you’ll cross the first of the many suspension bridges, with views of gushing river and deep forested valley. Passing through the charming villages like Zam Fute, Tok Tok, and Bengkar, you’ll arrive at Monjo, the official entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Here, your guide will take care of the permit formalities, while you enjoy a short photography break. From Monjo, you will continue across several more dramatic suspension bridges- including the iconic Hillary Bridge that hangs high above the Dudh Koshi River. Shortly after crossing this bridge, the real climbing begins: a steep, winding ascent through the forest of pine and rhododendron. This section is fully demanding due to both the incline and increasing altitude, but the effort you put in to achieve this section is all worth it. On clear days,  you’ll catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest -rising behind Lhotse and Kusum Kanguru- which is also one of the major highlights of the day. It is highly advisable to stay hydrated and maintain a steady pace and rest as needed to successfully complete this section.

After roughly two hours of steady climbing, the trail begins to level out as you approach Namche Bazaar, the bustling gateway to the high Himalayas. A historic trading town and cultural center for the Sherpa community, this town offers trekkers a lively atmosphere, well-equipped lodges and stunning Himalayan vistas.

Upon reaching Namche, you will settle into your pre-booked lodge, after which you can spend the rest of the day at leisure, to explore, relax or simply take in incredible alpine surroundings. Overnight in a lodge in Namche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  5. Activity duration: 3-5 hours (optional hikes)

This day marks the first of two planned acclimatization days on your Everest Base Camp Trek. As you’ve now crossed the 3,000-meter threshold, it’s essential to give your body time to adjust to the thinning air, before ascending further. To support the acclimatization process, your guide will lead a hike to higher elevations, as light activity at altitude is known to enhance adaptation and minimize the risk of altitude-related issues.

Since this day’s hike is relatively short, you’ll enjoy a relaxed start to the morning with a leisurely breakfast at your lodge in Namche. The day begins with a short uphill walk to the Tenzing Norgay Memorial, located above Namche. With majestic peaks of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam rising in the background, this bronze statue of the legendary climber makes for a striking and memorable photo stop.

From here, you will be led further uphill to the iconic Hotel Everest View in Syngboche. Built in the 1970s and once listed in the Guinness World Records as the world’s highest altitude hotel, it offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and more. It's a perfect place to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee while soaking in the grandeur of the Himalayas.

If you are still feeling energetic, the exploration will further continue to Khumjung and Khunde. Khumjung is the largest Sherpa village in the Khumbu region, has a school founded by Sir Edmund Hillary (the Hillary School) and offers a great opportunity to immerse in the local culture and lifestyle of Sherpa people. Khunde, the adjacent village, houses a local monastery, which famously displays a purported Yeti Scalp- a fascinating piece of Sherpa folklore.

For those preferring a shorter day, you may opt to return to Namche directly after visiting Hotel Everest View and spend the afternoon relaxing in one of the town’s cozy bakeries or cafes. Overnight in a lodge in Namche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  6. This is the second challenging and physically demanding day of the Everest Base Camp trek. But it is also one of those incredible days of the trek. Covering approximately 12 kilometers, this stage takes around 7 to 8 hours, depending on your pace and rest stops.

Starting after a hearty breakfast at your lodge in Namche, you’ll ascend out of the town along the gradually rising trail that contours the hillside, offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Along the way, you will pass colorful flags, mani walls and stupas-spiritual landmarks that add a deep cultural layer to the day’s trek.

The trail winds through Kyangjuma and continues to Sanasa, from where you’ll begin a steep descent through a beautiful forest of rhododendron to the riverside hamlet of Phunki Tenga. This downhill section can be hard on knees, so trekking poles are useful here. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, the real climb begins- a challenging 2.5 to 3 hour ascent through forested trail, toward the spiritual heart of the Khumbu: Tengboche Monastery.

Standing at 3,867 meters, this monastery is the largest and most significant in the region. Take time to rest, explore the monster and soak in the breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, which dominates the skyline.

From Tengboche, it’s a short 20-30-minute downhill walk through a forest trail to the peaceful village of Deboche. Nestled among the pines and offering close-up view of Ama Dablam, this village offers a quieter, more sheltered place to spend the night-making it more preferred alternative to the busier Tengboche.

After arriving at Deboche, you’ll check into your pre-booked lodge and enjoy a relaxing evening, resting your legs in preparation for the next day’s ascent. Overnight in a lodge in Deboche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  7. This section of the Everest base camp journey will slowly transition you into the alpine zone of the region. While the trail is relatively moderate compared to the previous days- covering around 11 kilometers over 5-6 hours- you’ll begin to notice the shift to more extreme conditions: colder temperature, thinner air, stronger wind and intense sunlight due to the elevation.

After a much needed breakfast in Deboche, the trek begins with a gentle ascent through scattered woods, hugging the Imja River valley. Before long, you’ll cross the last suspension bridge of the trek, followed by a steady climb to Pangboche- the highest permanent settlement in the region and home to one of the oldest monasteries in the region. From here, enjoy the uninterrupted views of Ama Dablam, rising sharply and beautifully above the valley.

As you move past Somare, the landscape becomes more dramatic as the lush greenery gives way to low alpine vegetation-dwarf shrubs, hardy mosses as well as dry grasses adapted to the thin mountain air. You’ll feel solitude deepen as the terrain becomes more open, with a stark beauty that is both rugged and awe-inspiring.

The final stretch to Dingboche involves a gradual climb across the glacial moraine and windswept highlands, eventually leading you into the wide, open valley of Dingboche. Surrounded by spectacular views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam, Dingboche offers both stunning setting and a crucial stop for acclimatization.

Upon arrival, you’ll check into your pre-booked lodge and spend the remainder of the day at ease-resting, hydrating and enjoying the views of the dramatic alpine landscape, which you will explore more the following day. Overnight in a lodge in Dingboche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  8. After gaining over 1,000 meters in elevation since your first acclimatization stop in Namche, it’s essential to pause here in Dingboche to allow your body to adapt once again. At this altitude, oxygen level drops to just 58-60% of sea level, making acclimatization critical, before moving higher. Thus, this day serves as the second of the two designated acclimatization days on this Everest Base Camp trek.

Unlike the bustling amphitheater of Namche, Dingboche is a wide, open valley, surrounded by dramatic snow-capped peaks and glacial moraine. To help your body adjust, your guide will organize altitude hike, offering two route options:

Option 1: Hike to Nangkartshang/Nagarjun Hill, which is a 4-5 hour round-trip hike to a spectacular ridge overlooking the valley. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of Himalayan giants such as Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Taboche, Cholatse, Thamserku, Island Peak, Makalu, Baruntse as well as Peak 38. The vantage point also offers a sweeping view of Dingboche’s exposed valley, ringed by towering peaks. This hike is ideal for those who want a challenging climb with time to return to Dingboche for lunch and afternoon at leisure.

Option 2: Full day hike to Chhukung is a longer adventure that you can opt for if you are looking for a full day trek. Chhukung is a small village nestled deeper in the Imja Valley. This hike provides stunning views of Ama Dablam, Baruntse and Makalu and is excellent for those preparing for high-altitude climbs. If you choose this hike, you will carry packed lunch and return to Dingboche by late afternoon.

Whichever route you choose, the purpose remains the same: to gradually expose your body to higher elevations while staying active, which is a proven technique to aid acclimatization. Overnight in a lodge in Dingboche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  9. On this day you will journey deeper into the glacial highlands of the Khumbu. After departing Dengboche, when you reach Lobuche, you’ll cover the distance of approximately 8.5 kilometers, gaining around 500 meters in elevation, which is a very fair amount of gain at this altitude. Though not the longest hike of the trek, this stage is notably tougher due to the thinning air, rugged terrain and exposure to cold winds and barren landscapes.

After filling breakfast at your lodge in Dingboche, the day’s trek begins with a gentle ascent along the Imja Valley that is beautifully surrounded by panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Taboche and Cholatse. The landscape becomes more stark and dramatic as you trek through glacial moraines, yak pastures and windblown fields, eventually arriving at the small settlement of Thukla (Dughla)- a popular rest stop where trekkers typically pause for tea or light snacks.

From Thukla, prepare for the most challenging section of the day: a steep, switchback ascent to Thukla Pass. This rocky climb takes about an hour and demands steady pacing and deep breaths. At the top, you’ll arrive at a solemn and moving site- a series of memorials built in honor of climbers who perished on Everest and other nearby peaks. It’s a place of quiet reflection, surrounded by stunning views and the sobering presence of stone cairns and prayer flags fluttering in the cold mountain air.

Beyond the pass, the trail levels out and follows the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, leading you gradually into the small, windwashed settlement of Lobuche.

Upon arrival, check into your pre-booked lodge, where you will enjoy a hot meal and the warmth of the dining hall. Spend the remainder of the afternoon resting, hydrating, or taking a short walk around the area to help your body continue adjusting to the altitude. Overnight in a lodge in Lobuche.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  10. Today is the destination day as you finally reach the ultimate destination of this trek, the Everest Base Camp. This section is long as it takes you from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep, covering about 10 kilometers in total, which feels more as everything, from altitude to rocky terrain to thin air makes this one of the most challenging yet a very rewarding day of this journey.

After nourishing breakfast in Lobuche, the trek, first to Gorakshep begins with a gradual ascent along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, the highest glacier in the world. The landscape is stark, silent and dramatic- dotted with rocks, ice and snow. As you navigate the high-altitude wilderness, soak in the stunning views of Pumori, Nuptse and Lingtren. About 2-3 hours after leaving Lobuche, you will arrive in Gorakshep, the final overnight stop before base camp.

Here, you will check into the lodge, securing your room for the night and leaving your luggage you will ultimately push to base camp, after light lunch.

The trek follows a rugged, undulating trail over loose rocks and glacial debris-physically demanding, yet absolutely unforgettable. Roughly 2-3 hours after leaving Gorakshep, you will get the glimpse of the Khumbu Icefall, which marks the arrival of the base camp. The base camp for the trekkers is marked by colorful prayer flags and a large commemorative boulder. While Mt. Everest isn’t visible from this point, the surrounding peaks- including Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse and Lingtren- make a perfect backdrop for photography. You will also catch a sight of Tibet’s Lho La in the distance.

Once at the base camp, take your time to celebrate your achievement, take in the atmosphere and capture plenty of photographs. Once you are ready, you will retrace your steps back to Gorakshep, where rest and recovery await.

By the time you return, the altitude and exertion will have taken their toll. Therefore, enjoy a warm dinner and call it an early night to wake up the next morning two hours before sunrise to hike to Kala Patthar. Overnight in a lodge in Gorakshep.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

  11. You will begin this day with a pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar, a rugged ridgeline renowned for offering the most iconic and panoramic view of Mt. Everest. If you are aiming to witness the sunrise over Everest, you will have to start your ascent around 2 hours before dawn, depending on weather conditions and your pace.

The trail starts directly from Gorakshep and while well-defined and frequently traveled, it is a steep and physically demanding climb. Get ready to endure the cold and thin air as you ascend. The trail winds up a rocky slope with several switchbacks, offering increasingly spectacular views of Pumori, Lingtren and Lhotse along the way. Upon reaching the summit of Kala Patthar, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking surrounding panorama, towering above all the mighty Mt. Everest, glowing golden in the early morning light. Besides Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam and other peaks complete the majestic panorama. Looking below, you can spot the Khumbu Ice Fall, the snaking Khumbu Glacier and a distant view of the Everest Base Camp.

You are currently standing at one of the highest and the most scenic vantage points in the world, therefore, make the most out of your time here by taking some time to soak in the sunrise, snap photos and reflect on your achievement, before tracing your way back down to Ghorakshep for a well-deserved breakfast.

After breakfast, bidding farewell to the Everest region and your support team, you will fly to Lukla and then back to Kathmandu in a shared helicopter. From the airport in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the pre-booked hotel for you in Kathmandu. Spend the afternoon relaxing, resting or exploring the nearby market. In the evening, a company representative will meet you for the farewell dinner to celebrate your success. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

     Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Note: As helicopter flights are entirely weather dependent , we highly recommend adding a few extra buffer days to your itinerary to ensure flexibility and avoid any unexpected delays.

  12. After the incredible adventure to Everest Base Camp and a memorable return to Kathmandu, this day marks the end of your journey with Adventure Mountain Explore Treks and Expedition.

Therefore, as per your flight time, our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight to ensure a smooth and stress-free departure. We hope you leave with unforgettable memories, new friendships and deep connection to the Himalayas.

If you have some free hours, you can utilize these hours doing last-minute shopping, relaxing at your hotel or exploring the nearby cafe.

Safe travels and we hope to welcome you again for another adventure in Nepal!

    Meals: Breakfast

Great people who arranged my trip with in my budget

"Several months ago, a friend of mine came back from world-round-trip and said, “A.B.C trekking is what you cannot see in any other places but Nepal”, and excitingly showed me a lot of incredibly beautiful pictures from the mountain and the country, Nepal. The story he shared caught my heart and strongly made me want to visit this country. And now, I also strongly recommend this adventure into wild nature. This is the reason why I am here, coming back from 10days Annapurna base camp(A.B.C) to write a review for one of the best agency (Adventure Mountain Explore Treks & Expedition P. Ltd) in Kathmandu and for you. What I have found during this trip is that this trip is therapeutic, educational, and exciting. First of all, in the mountain area, there are no such things as mobile, familiar TV show, disturbing noise, and annoying friends. You are literally surrounded by nature and all you can trust is your guide and your heart. You also have much free time in the mountain, which makes you think a lot about your future. Second, trekking is educational. You may see a various people from around the world as well as local people. This, I believe, is the best way of getting to know each other, as you will see them again and again during the trail. Exchanging their personal story and back ground helps you grow your personality as well. Third, it is exciting. There is no question about it. When I saw the panorama view from A.B.C, I got so excited that I could not take my camera away (I am sure I took more than 100 pictures and video there). That was defiantly worth it. Now, I am going to share a bit about my trekking partner, my guide, Lok Bhatta. He is friendly guy. He is not only experienced guide, but he knows how he can entertain us during the whole trip. His caring and his humor take up my good memory of trip. Since Lok and I spent 11days together, it is no wonder we became a best friends. Also he persistently looks after me. When I wanted him to take pictures, he always s..."

"My mother and I arrived in Kathmandu with just 2 days to prepare for a trek around Annapurna Circuit. We feel very lucky to have met Mr. Tika Regmi and through Adventure Mountain Explore treks we were able to hire a porter-guide to facilitate exactly the kind of trek we wanted, a self-directed trek with Nepali assistance. Our porter-guide Sujan was a trusted and integral part of our little trekking party. He was very knowledgeable about the route, its hotels and side trips, and he even introduced us to local people and gave us interactions with local Nepalese that we could not have experienced on our own, like a tea in the home of a local family! We couldn’t be any more pleased with our trek. Shanna Simmons 1152 Crescent Avenue Klamath Falls, OR 97601 USA shannasimmons@hotmail.com"

"Thanks Tika We arrived in Kathmandu on November 4, 2011 with hopes to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek to Muktinah. We had no firm guide or porters arranged as yet but were lucky to stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Thamel where we met Tika Regmi at the Hotel Blue Horizon. Tika is the director of Adventure Mountain Explore which wa located across the street. With Tika's expert help, our trek was arranged with an extraordinary guide, Sittal "Hom" Simkhada and two equally adept porters, Santosh Uperkoti and Sanjeep. Sittal knew the trail very well having done it more than 25 times. He provided information and insights about each peak and landmark along the way. He guided us up and down with care and confidence, setting a good pace that worked for each of us, our ages being 69, 67, and 30 years old. Sittal also got us to our teahouse rooms promptly and made sure we got our meals on time. We never had to ask for service; it was always provided with a smile. We enjoyed the camaraderie or our guide and porters and spent time playing cards together and exchanging stories. Clearly Sittal loved what he was doing and was experienced with every aspect of being a guide. When our daughter became ill along the way in Manang, Sittal conferred with Tika and we took an extra day to make sure all was well before continuing. There was no pressure to move on before we felt ready. When we reached the summit at Thorang la Pass we all celebrated together. It was a group achievement as well as a personal one for each of us. We are pleased to recommend Tika Regni as trek organizer and Sittal Simkhada as guide with our highest esteem and respect.
