I did the 8 day Langtang trek with Adventure Mountain Explore in September. My guide, Nava, was excellent. I was a solo traveler, and spending the morning before the trek getting to know each other in Kathmandu was a great idea. His English was very good and was very helpful in organizing what to take in my backpack. On the trek, he was very knowledgeable about the region, the path we were taking, and the local custom. He was also well prepared and trained for adverse scenarios, and had a phone, water purification drops, etc. The trek itself was great fun and very challenging. I considered the uphill climbs to be some of the hardest i've done, but the feeling of getting to the top of Keynjing Ri and seeing the surrounding mountains and glacier was something i'll never forget. Nava provided great hotels along the way, always with a big selection of local and western food, hot showers, warm blankets, and a cup of Raksi (local wine). Along the way, it was fascinating to learn a bit about the way people live in Langtang, and watching the porters trek endlessly up and down the mountain carrying supplies made me appreciate where my food and drink came from. The weather was quite good along the way, and Nava always knew when and where to see the best views of the mountains. I loved the ever-changing terrain, from forest, to rolling fields of colorful mountain flowers, to mountain tops. All in all, I had a fantastic time with Nava on the trek, a great teammate to experience and explore Langtang NP! Definitely recommend AME and Nava, my guide!
